In the upper east of the city lies the small suburb of Kingsgate. It is one of the oldest parts of Greater Coldford, built centuries before as a main route to the north from the CHAMBERLAIN DOCKS. It is home to Kingsgate University which boasts one of the best performing law schools in the known area. It is where JUDGE DOYLE learned her trade.

As a football team, Kingsgate are mid table performers. When they are underperforming they suffer bad but when they excel they can be unstoppable. They are unique in that their players are all students of the University’s sports management program. The players are contracted to Kingsgate to complete their training before heading off to pastures new. As one of two university towns in the city, Kingsgate are expected to provide the best and brightest new talent. Their great rivals, FILTON, will always be chomping at their heels.

Our most notable supporter of Kingsgate is music tutor, VINCENT. He was born and raised in the beautiful old town. Despite being on tour with his parents and their orchestra a lot as a child, Kingsgate was always home. Like most of the Kingsgate supporters he doesn’t seem much of a football fan on the surface but victory and sportsmanship is important to them. Despite being called to rival, Filton University, because of their superior music program, Vincent is loyal to his home town.

Vincent may seem like a charming man. However, most people can’t help but notice something a little odd about him. His wealthy new pupil will ignite his obsessions once again.

Coming 2020.

The son of a great composer. A concert pianist by age 12. By all accounts he was a truly remarkable man. So where did it all go wrong? Welcome Resident 1105 to Harbour House.

Lofty Heights: Beckingridge Tower

The tallest tower in City Main. The BECKINGRIDGE tower (sometimes referred to as Beck Tower) is the tallest building in Coldford. It is home of the BECKINGRIDGE financial firm. The office in the penthouse suite is the working home of CEO ERNEST.

img_0885-1
Ernest Beckingridge has a lot on his shoulders.

It has the financial hub of the city and how can a city function without cold hard cash? It puts a lot of responsibility on their shoulders of the CEO but it has been his family industry for generations so what other choice does he have?

It’s easy to get lost in the numbers at Beck Tower.

It has withstood a lot of attacks over the years as an empire. It has waded through recession, embezzlement and through the family’s personal problems but when the FREEFALL benefit is held at the tower and party guests start to leap inexplicably from the roof it may be the final nail in the financial giant’s coffin.

It’s a long fall from the top!

Ernest doesn’t have what it takes to hold a place like the BECKINGRIDGE Tower so its up to his dragon of a sister or his psychopathic son. Quite the embarrassment of riches to choose from there Ernie!

Ernest’s son and heir, George has been a complete handful lately and his mother is no longer around to help control him. In the hopes of giving him something more positive to focus on they bring in music tutor, Vincent.

After the events of MAESTRO someone is needing some rehabilitation. Welcome to Harbour House.

Family Friendly: Harvester Farm

Location: Bournton

Features in: MUSE ; HARBOUR HOUSE ; THE BOSS ; KNOCK KNOCK

A beautiful, expansive piece of land set beyond the north of the city before reaching the northern town of BOURNTON. Leaving the hustle and bustle of Coldford City behind the Harvester farm seems like a world away.

Julia Harvester is a nice girl.

A meat and dairy farm, the Harvester brand brings some of the finest produce to the Shady City and beyond. When Jacob fell ill his doctor, WINSLOW, bought over the farm in order to help out and to bring the brand into a modern world before it was lost completely to a day and age long past.

The eminent Dr Winslow and Harvester farm hand Glenn.

Hard work and dedication is given completely by the farm hands. They are all like family to Julia, especially GLENN and Curtis her two main hands who keep the farm functioning.

Hard working and dedicated. The farm hands are like family.

Whilst you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and become lost in the day dream inducing old fashioned architecture of the farm house, like most places in the Shady City there is a dark cloud hovering over the land and it’s not just bringing gloomy weather. Julia is losing control over her family legacy little by little to the domineering doctor.

When Julia meets an artist, DAVID FINN, he manages to see past her naïve, pretty farm girl exterior to a furious fire that burns beneath. The inspiration falls both ways as the daring artist gives her a new lease of life. Time to make some changes around Harvester farm and desperate times call for desperate measures.

When artist, David Finn, meets his new muse its his chance to get his life back together again. It seems though the shy seeming farm girl has other ideas.

CONFESSIONS

From the tip of the Shanties to the top of the north COLDFORD DAILY has the news.

The largest newspaper in the area they have been first to inform the people of some of the most significant events the Shady City has ever seen such as the kidnapping of Billionaire Ernest BECKINGRIDGE’s son, George. They also were first in line to report on CONFESSIONS killer Tracey Campbell after she murdered half of her anatomy class. If it happens within the Coldford City district you will read it first at Coldford Daily.

Boasting some of the best journalists such as SAM CRUSOW (winner of the prestigious PENN prize for literature) and MADELINE LOWER who despite facing discrimination in the Daily offices because of gender has proven time and time again her worth as an investigative journalist.

Owned by the OWEN family it can be said that although they are first to bring news to the people they are also in control of what the people are allowed to hear. This is perfect when you want to hide skeletons back in the closet and the Owens have many of those.

The mayor is missing and Sam is covering the story. Volume 1 is free to read on Vivika Widow Online or download for Kindle by clicking HERE.

Hathfield Bay: The Waves

Stadium: Bay Park

Sponsors: Moray Marina

A spirited team from the Hathfield Bay Islands, their competitive edge is always trumped by the enjoyment of the game. Their love of the game and the enjoyment of their fans will always be more important than any trophy.  What is best known about them is their friendly spirit and the welcoming atmosphere of their stadium. Given the beach side setting, travelling fans often make their visit a holiday.

54433869_2363685557197604_3128222649604374528_n

Known for the standard age of their fans being older than the rest of the league the Islanders are always well treated at away matches. Trouble doesn’t suit Hathfield so when the fans of BELLFIELD caused trouble and damage to the stadium after a disappointing result, the public were shocked.

Supporting the team and supporting each other is important to the islanders. The sponsors – Moray Marina – is the location of the ‘FEED HATHFIELD’ program and has been running since the first great recession almost closed the bay down.

Our most notable Shady City fan of Hathfield is  TAWNY, affectionately known as the Baroness. An islander herself she is best known for being the aunt of KNOCK KNOCK boss lady TABITHA. Tawny, like her favoured team is spirited, friendly and willing to enter the thick of the action when the moment calls.

Take the Edge Off: The Mack Distillery

Features in: KNOCK KNOCK ; HARBOUR HOUSE ; WHISKEY WARS

Located in the Shanties area of the Shady City the Mack Distillery is a huge feature of the unique look of the south. Employing thousands from the poorest areas the Mack and Sons brand stands for working class values and treats its hard working factory operators like family.

img_0590

It  is overlooked by PADDY MACK, the second generation of Macks to run the distillery in the Shady City. It began it’s life as a small factory in BELLFIELD, to the west of Coldford, but their uniquely bottled whiskey became such a sensation the brand quickly grew and flourished. They supply large super market chains headed by the HARVESTER brand but their main claim to some infamy is their supply to the KNOCK KNOCK CLUB. They lost some of their team during an attack on the club back when it was in the hands of the old Baroness. The Mack boys tend to bury their grudges and bury them deep.

171

Having been caught up in a dispute between Bellfield and the neighbouring area of Northside in what became known as the Whiskey Wars, the future of the distillery is uncertain. What will always stand though, is the Mack willingness to fight for the sake of their people.

Jamestown Rovers: We are the Clubby

Stadium: Douglas Park

Sponsors: Crusow Autos

Priding themselves on a small community spirit, Jamestown will never forget their roots. They may often find themselves fighting relegation at the bottom of the NPL but they don’t let that dissuade them. Fans of Jamestown are not in it for the glory of trophies. They generally believe in the local struggles and supporting one another no matter how difficult it gets.

54408497_399956860829991_6652794695283900416_n

A small suburb of Coldford, Jamestown manage to keep themselves free from the drama of the big city until they are brought into the thick of the action against a rivalling, richer team like Coldford City or even Athletic.

Our Shady City Thriller’s most notable fan of Jamestown is our reporter, Sam Crusow. His father’s garage sponsors the team and it is where Sam learned the importance of people coming together. Going to the games as a boy is one of Sam’s fondest memories and it was over this mutual love of the sport that he and his father Samuel (or Sam Snr) bonded most.

JAMESTOWN_sam_fanpromo.jpg

Unfortunately as the big city threatens to swallow up their little suburb they can’t hide forever. It will be up to the likes of Sam to expose the truth for the good of the people and even the villains of Coldford are no match for such an strong spirit.

See Sam in action as a reporter in the hit Knock Knock graphic novel series.

Coldford City strip. Season 18 – 19

With the largest stadium and three of the most skilled players transferred from the coastal city of Luen, COLDFORD CITY are the team to beat in the National Premier League. Although having the money to buy top players does bring it’s fair share of problems. Striker, Andre Luis frequently dominates the headlines for his antics off the pitch as much as on. He is a frequent goal scorer but his personal life often takes centre stage. Rumours followed him from Luen that he was willing to throw games for the right pay. Some say it was in the Shady City he learned to PLAY THE GAME .

Striker, Andre Luis, brings victory against fierce rivals Coldford Athletic

Their trophy cabinets are full but there is just one prize that alludes them. Andre Luis has worked his entire career to receive the Golden Boot. As it stands that accolade belongs to City’s fierce rivals COLDFORD ATHLETIC and their star, Samuel Connelly.

A season unbeaten. City dominated the league.

Our Shady City thriller’s most notable fan of City is MARCUS PENN and his triplet brothers. As sponsors of the team the triplets always have a keen interest in their investments and so will always make sure City has the money they need to always be the best.

Bellfield: Whiskey Town

Team: Bellfield Football Club

Stadium: MACK AND SONS arena.

Sponsors: MACK AND SONS

Located to the West, Bellfield football club is proudly supported by the Mack family of Mack and Sons whiskey distillery, suppliers of the KNOCK KNOCK club.

As a travelling team Bellfield have garnered a reputation for instigating riots and wrecking opposing stadiums. The travelling fan group known as THE FLEET are usually responsible. They have received several sanctions from the football association but the final ban came after a visit to HATHFIELD BAY when damage was caused to the stadium and several Bay fans hospitalised.

When word reached the Distillery that the football association were set to remove Bellfield from the league, the sponsors of the team stepped in. Current chair of Mack and Sons, Patrick, said, “The behaviour of the Bellfield fans was unacceptable and does not represent us as a club.”

The point was moot though because the following week the FLEET member responsible for causing the trouble died in a alleged car crash.

Our most notable fan of Bellfield Football Club is head of the Mack clan. Check out the Knock Knock series to join the club they are proud to supply.

Coldford Athletic: Home of the Golden Boy

Team: Coldford Athletic

Stadium: Starkland Park

Sponsors: THE KNOCK KNOCK CLUB

Since they were first built, the Shanties of Coldford City was home to the poorest people. Most of them worked low income jobs and even spending all the hours they could it was still difficult to make ends meet. Some gave up, turning to booze and drugs to fill their days instead, hoping it would help them forget they were stuck in a poverty trap.

55557283_2121280414575240_3906405470201446400_n

As the north of the city thrived and the COLDFORD CITY football club came to be, a man named Roger Crane decided the people of the South should have their own team, a team they could cheer and support. No one in the Shanties could afford the fees it took to join the youth program of Coldford City so Coldford Athletic was established. Roger swore that it would always be open for the youth of the Shanties. The children there had idols to turn their attention to and aspire to be like. Idols they became. Coldford City and Coldford Athletic became fierce rivals. Despite their humble beginnings Athletic had one thing to boast that City never could – Golden Boot winner Samuel Connelly. City poured money into purchasing players from Luen and further but none could compete with Sammy Connelly’s natural skill.

Shanties born and raised Sammy Connelly showed the youth of the area that anything was possible, even with every social disadvantage weighing you down. Money couldn’t buy that golden boot – inter city football’s most prestigious prize – only hard work and perseverance could gain that, something the people of the Shanties have in abundance.

Our Shady City thriller’s most notable fan of Athletic is artist, DAVID FINN. Having grown up in the Clifton Alley part of the Shanties he has seen it at its worst.
