Running back and forth, just beating the chase?

The winds are strong pushing me on,

but I can’t see. My motivations are gone.

 

It doesn’t have to be this way with such beauty around.

But it takes a sacrifice to see the colours so profound.

Carrying negativity can be such a heavy load.

Leave it behind. It is support you are owed.

 

As you move on from this place to THAT,

and you take with you the emotions you tried to combat,

Remember it is your presence that continues to live on.

The art and joy you created will never be gone.

This Child Bugs Me

The fly has always been bothersome.

Buzzing To and Fro, vomiting over its next meal.

Food and pleasure and an irritating hum.

It always hung around where it had no appeal.

Swatted away, it took a child along.

It kept the baby it know it couldn’t raise.

Blaming it for all that went wrong.

The fly grew fatter and fatter, waiting for the end of days.

“This child bugs me,” one day it said.

Too fat now to buzz away.

It didn’t matter, it was already dead.

The pain was finally removed that day.

Lofty Heights: Beckingridge Tower

The tallest tower in City Main. The BECKINGRIDGE tower (sometimes referred to as Beck Tower) is the tallest building in Coldford. It is home of the BECKINGRIDGE financial firm. The office in the penthouse suite is the working home of CEO ERNEST.

Ernest Beckingridge has a lot on his shoulders.


It has the financial hub of the city and how can a city function without cold hard cash? It puts a lot of responsibility on their shoulders of the CEO but it has been his family industry for generations so what other choice does he have?

It’s easy to get lost in the numbers at Beck Tower.


It has withstood a lot of attacks over the years as an empire. It has waded through recession, embezzlement and through the family’s personal problems but when the FREEFALL benefit is held at the tower and party guests start to leap inexplicably from the roof it may be the final nail in the financial giant’s coffin.

It’s a long fall from the top!

Ernest doesn’t have what it takes to hold a place like the BECKINGRIDGE Tower so its up to his dragon of a sister or his psychopathic son. Quite the embarrassment of riches to choose from there Ernie!

Character Profile: Tawny McInney aka The Baroness

Name: Tawny Ann McInney

Occupation: Founder of the KNOCK KNOCK CLUB

Features in: KNOCK KNOCK , HARBOUR HOUSE ; PURPLE RIBBON ;

Tawny was a much loved figure in the Shanties area of the city where her club is located. A singer, performer, comedienne she was never more at home than when she was on her stage making others smile. Affectionately known as the Baroness by her patrons. With the help of her partner, AGNES, she has learned to navigate some difficult events.

She faced down Fullerton bulldozers, she faced CPD but she hadn’t yet faced Judge Doyle.

A native of the HATHFIELD BAY Island she traveled to the city with her brother Rob in search of more opportunities. The first recession had almost closed the bay down and resources on the islands were limited.

Tawny and Agnes work through the hard times of Knock Knock together.

What is most distinctive about Tawny is that she is the aunt of Knock Knock boss Lady TABITHA. Where most see Tabitha as ruthless and, dare we say, murderous, Tawny sees another side of a her niece and they are close. Despite Tawny being laid back and kind natured she can be fiercely protective of those she loves.

She has the reputation of being flaky and colourful in her views of reality. Having experienced a mental break down her fragility is exposed when her beloved club comes under attack.

Character Profile: Dr G Winslow

Occupation: Surgeon General, CEO Harvesters Meat and Dairy.

The family farm became a city wide brand.

Dr Gregory Winslow is accomplished and well educated. There are many around the Shady City that owe their life to him. He is something of a wizard with organ transplants and one of his most grateful patients is Jacob Harverster, better known as the old Harvester. Jacob’s daughter, Julia , was so grateful to the doctor for her father’s care he was named one of the leading holders of the farm and with that control Winslow was able to help the Harvester brand grow and thrive.

Winslow keeps a close watch on his investment.

Like many in the shady city Winslow doesn’t do what he does out of the goodness of his heart. He is in the business of saving lives but business is still business. Whilst saving lives can be a great thing the ugly truth is someone has to pay for it.

Harvester farm spread like a great smothering plant across the city with no one trimming away the rotting parts. The farm hands were worked harder but saw less benefits. Julia found herself in the doctor’s clutches. She couldn’t escape. She didn’t just owe him her father’s life, she owed him everything and the good doctor was going to make sure he had his dues. He felt a duty to protect Jacob’s livelihood whilst he recovered and so his daughter had her duties to perform too.

Harvester Farm is a vast place with a lot of hidden gems.

Winslow has touched so many lives. From the simple farm girl who he has complete control over to a down on his luck artist. Winslow connects the two and as their stories collide, as artist and muse, a horrifying truth will be revealed as they desperately try to break free.

Glenn is a hard working man. No one can accuse him of being lazy. Providing for his family is of prime importance. His daughter, Susie, is all that matters. He takes his commitments seriously and he committed himself to Harvester farm back when Jacob Harvester was in control. He has worked the farm ever since he was a young man and has seen the old Harvester’s daughter, Julia, grow up like an uncle. He saw the farm blossom. He watched it fail.

The old Harvester became sick and it fell to Julia to decide its future. Glenn – like the rest of the farm hands – was always treated like family but decisions on the Harvester legacy was out of his depth.

Still, as difficult as things became, an overbearing investor changed the world around them. Glenn remained strong in his commitment. As long as Susie had everything she needed it didn’t matter what he had to do. Even when the investor began to push them towards new jobs, well out-with their duties, Glenn carried on. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t legal either but pride and family were at stake.

She may have broad shoulders but the responsibility of the farm that fell on her after the old Harvester became ill was immense.

Jacob Harvester didn’t want the farm life for his daughter. She could have been a doctor or a lawyer. She could have been anything but Julia gave it all up to protect her family legacy. Thankfully the Harvester brand has thrived in recent years. Now the meat and dairy trucks can be seen all over the Shady City.

Shackled to the farm by an over bearing investor as well as her loyalty to the farm hands Julia had lost all hope of ever escaping. That was until she met artist, David Finn. He saw something in her. She inspired him and in turn he inspired her. He helped her find the confidence she needed to break loose.

She is warm, friendly and has an attitude to life that seems a little naive. Be careful though. Underneath her seemingly innocent persona dwells a fire that could easily get out of control given the right motivation.

She is often found close to the man who offered her father new life, DR WINSLOW. She owes him everything. Not only did he save her father’s life but he also saved the farm and all those on it but when motives against her family legacy turn sour Julia’s loyalty will be tested to the limit.

Vulnerable? Unworldly? Or one to be watched closely?

The beautiful music brings quiet to a troubled mind.

Adopted son of the great composer, Fredrick Baines, Vincent has lived with music for most of his life. From the KINGSGATE area he has lived among elite society for most of his life. With both his parents being accomplished musicians – his mother a lead cellist and father conductor of the Coldford City Orchestra – it was expected he would follow in their footsteps.

Vincent supports his home town of Kingsgate. The oldest part of the Shady City.

Adopted by the Baines’ as a small boy, Vincent showed a natural ability with music. His true love was the violin. He was drawn to the pleading strings and the feel of the bow.

Vincent is handsome, charming but most people agree also a little odd. He has obsessive personality disorder and when he sets his mind to something he will go to extreme lengths to satisfy.

In the poorest area of the Shady City, known as the SHANTIES, lies a club called the Knock, Knock Club. You will find it if you care to venture down Clifton Alley and are keen enough to knock on it’s door.

There you will find a charming manager, DENNIS, to meet you. Entertainment is provided by some of the best talent the city has to offer, the KNOCK KNOCK girls are there to make you feel welcome and if you care to become a member the club will always have your back. You may even get an audience with the BOSS LADY herself.

Boss Lady, Tabitha, has a treat in store for reporter, Sam.

Since it’s opening by an old show girl known as The BARONESS and her partner AGNES, It has had its fair share of challenges. It has been a hiding place for criminals, raided by the COLDFORD CITY POLICE department and been burnt down in an attack that killed many of the dancer girls, staff and patrons. Despite this it has always managed to claw its way back up to continue as a feature in the south of the city. There is a war brewing and the HEADLINERS who own the club are leading the charge.

Sam and his wife, Theresa enjoy the entertainment Knock Knock has to offer.

Supplied by the MACK AND SONS distillery and invested into by the AUCTION HOUSE the club always has someone to call on when mischief is required.

It is a cabaret club by all measures but behind its closed doors there is something else going on. Enter journalist, SAM CRUSOW, to expose it for what it really is.
